Bluehost vs DreamHost: guided WordPress setup or independent hosting
Bluehost
DreamHost
Bluehost and DreamHost are two of the longest-running WordPress hosts, and both offer round-the-clock support and one-click WordPress. Bluehost has been officially recommended by WordPress.org for two decades and leans into a guided start: a free domain and SSL, an AI WordPress builder on every plan, one-click staging, daily off-site backups and WordPress experts on chat and phone at any hour.
DreamHost is an independent host with a long open source record and a clear privacy stance. Its shared plans come with unmetered bandwidth, free private domain registration, a free automatic WordPress migration tool, a 100% uptime guarantee and an in-house support team rather than an outsourced one. The real difference is approach: Bluehost hands beginners a structured path, DreamHost gives a no-fuss home to people who already know what they want.

Our verdict
Bluehost leads for most readers because it removes the most friction when you are starting out. The AI builder gets a first site live quickly, staging lets you test changes safely, backups run daily without any setup, and phone support is there whenever you need it. If this is your first WordPress site, or you are building one for someone who will never touch the technical side, it is the easier choice.
DreamHost is the better pick if you are moving an existing site or care about how your host treats your data. The automatic migration tool, unmetered bandwidth and free domain privacy suit established sites, and its open source stance and in-house support appeal to people who want a straightforward host rather than an onboarding flow. Whichever you choose, read the refund terms for the exact plan, since they vary by product.
