Invisalign and NewSmile both straighten teeth with clear, removable aligners, but they are delivered in very different ways. Invisalign treatment is run by a dentist or orthodontist you see in person: the doctor takes a 3D iTero scan of your teeth, shows you a preview, checks that each set of aligners fits, and finishes with Vivera retainers. Invisalign says it treats crowding, spacing, overbite and overjet, and is available for children from age 6, teens and adults.

NewSmile is an at-home service. You take your own impressions with a starter kit, its dental team designs a 3D smile plan, and the aligners arrive by post with remote check-ins. NewSmile says every case is prescribed by a licensed dentist, quotes an average treatment time of four to six months, includes a whitening kit, and refunds you in full if its dentists decide you are not a candidate.

The real difference is supervision: an in-person exam and ongoing visits with Invisalign, remote review with NewSmile.

Our verdict

Invisalign is the better choice for most readers, and it is why it leads our ranking. Treatment starts with an in-person examination, a doctor oversees every stage, and it covers a wider range of bite problems than a cosmetic at-home plan. That matches what official bodies advise. The FDA describes clear aligners as prescription devices that are only safe under the supervision of a licensed dentist or orthodontist, and says in-person examination can help lower the risk of uneven bite, unintended tooth movement, pain and tooth loss. The American Association of Orthodontists says treatment should begin with an in-person exam that includes X-rays, because they show the health of the bone and roots.

NewSmile can suit an adult with mild, mostly cosmetic crowding or gaps who has healthy teeth and gums, cannot easily attend regular appointments, and wants a simpler at-home process with whitening included. Its refund if you are not a candidate lowers the risk of starting.

Whichever you consider, this page is not medical advice. Speak to a dentist or orthodontist first: an in-person check, ideally with X-rays, will tell you whether your teeth suit aligners at all and which kind of treatment fits your case.
