Hostinger AI review: our verdict

This Hostinger AI review looks at the website builder from Hostinger, the Lithuania-based hosting company, and asks whether its AI tools are a sensible way for a small business, freelancer or hobbyist to get a professional site online without hiring a designer. For most people on a budget, the answer is yes. Hostinger bundles the builder with hosting, a custom domain for the first year, business email and a set of AI helpers for writing, logos, images and search optimisation, so a single subscription covers almost everything a first website needs.

The trade-offs are real, though. There is no free plan, only a free trial. The best introductory rates depend on paying for several years up front, and the renewal rate is noticeably higher. The editor is deliberately simple, which is a strength for beginners and a limitation for anyone who wants an app marketplace or deep design control. If you accept those limits, Hostinger is one of the strongest value picks in the AI builder category, which is why it sits in the top three of our ranking.

NerdBible did not build a site on Hostinger for this review. It is an editorial assessment based on Hostinger's own product, pricing and policy pages and on the published findings of independent review outlets, which we credit and link below.

What is Hostinger AI and who is it for?

Hostinger describes itself on its About page as an all-in-one platform for building, hosting and growing an online business, running on LiteSpeed servers, NVMe storage and its own content delivery network. Its website builder sits inside that platform. According to the Hostinger website builder page, the company now offers a single website and app builder called AI Builder with two modes: a Manual mode, which is the traditional drag-and-drop editor, and an Agentic mode, where you describe what you want in plain language and the AI builds a site or a simple web app for you.

It suits these groups especially well:

  • First-time site owners. You can start from a short description or a template and adjust colours, fonts, text and images without touching code.
  • Small businesses and sole traders. Hosting, domain, email, SEO tools and a store are part of the same account, so there are fewer services to connect and fewer bills to track.
  • Budget-conscious buyers planning to stay put. The pricing structure rewards long commitments, so it works best for someone confident the site will still be running years from now.

It is a weaker fit for designers who want pixel-level control, for businesses that rely on a large ecosystem of third-party apps, and for anyone who expects to phone a support agent.

Key features

AI site generation in two modes

The Hostinger AI website builder page says you can describe your idea and the AI will produce a first version of the site, which you then refine. Agentic mode extends this to web apps built by prompting, while Manual mode keeps the familiar drag-and-drop canvas. Paid plans come with a set number of AI credits for website and app creation, described on the plan cards as a one-time allowance, so heavy use of the agentic builder is metered rather than unlimited.

AI writing, logo, image and SEO helpers

Hostinger lists an AI Writer for headlines, page copy and product descriptions, an AI Logo Maker, AI image creation for hero sections and blog posts, and an AI SEO Assistant. For online sellers, the builder page says you can describe what you sell and have the AI draft product titles, descriptions and images. TechRadar also describes an AI Heatmap that tries to predict where visitors will look on a page before it goes live, and AI background removal and bulk CSV product uploads for store owners.

Templates and the drag-and-drop editor

Hostinger's own pages quote different template counts in different places, from several hundred upward, so treat the exact number loosely. What matters more is how the editor behaves: the vendor describes a grid-style drag-and-drop canvas with mobile-responsive layouts, and independent reviewers agree it is easy to learn. One limitation flagged by TechRadar is that switching to a different template after you have started means rebuilding your content.

Ecommerce

The builder page says the store tools, powered by Hostinger Ecommerce, handle physical and digital products, print-on-demand and services, with inventory, orders, shipping and tax management in one dashboard. Hostinger states it accepts more than 100 payment methods without an extra platform fee and integrates with 40+ shipping carriers including DHL, UPS and FedEx. The plan cards present ecommerce as part of the higher tiers aimed at growing businesses, so check which plan you need before buying if selling online is the main goal.

Marketing and analytics

You can connect Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta Pixel, and Hostinger Reach, its email marketing tool, is included on the higher plans. Hostinger also says content is automatically optimised for traditional and AI search, which is a marketing claim rather than a guarantee of rankings.

How much does Hostinger AI cost?

Our page above shows current prices from our own data; here is how the plans are structured. Hostinger offers three website builder tiers. The entry plan covers a small number of websites, two mailboxes per site and a smaller AI credit allowance, with support through the Hostinger Agent chatbot. The middle plan adds unlimited websites, unlimited mailboxes, a larger AI credit allowance, ecommerce, Reach email marketing and priority 24/7 support. The top tier adds cloud-level performance and credits for Hostinger's separate AI agents.

Three details matter more than the headline figure:

  • Everything is paid up front. The pricing page states that the monthly rate shown is the total plan price divided by the number of months.
  • Renewal costs more. The plan cards show a renewal rate well above the introductory one, and the lowest rate requires the longest term. CNET noted that the crossed-out "regular" price is not the renewal price, which can make the discount look bigger than it is.
  • The domain and mailboxes are free for the first year, after which they are billed separately.

There is no free plan. Hostinger's FAQ says it offers a 14-day free trial of the builder instead, and paid purchases fall under a 30-day refund window set out in the Hostinger refund policy. Note that domain registrations have their own, much shorter refund rules, and purchases made in cryptocurrency are not refundable.

Is Hostinger AI safe and private?

Hostinger includes free SSL certificates with its plans, and TechRadar reports that the account supports two-factor authentication, which we recommend switching on. Hostinger is an EU-based company, and its privacy policy states that personal data is processed under the GDPR, with a dedicated contact address for data requests. The same policy explains that for data your own site collects from visitors, you are the data controller and Hostinger acts as a processor, so you remain responsible for your own cookie notice and privacy policy.

One older independent review, from ZDNET, criticised Hostinger for lacking multi-factor authentication on its dashboard. TechRadar's more recent review says two-factor authentication is supported, so that criticism appears to have been addressed. It is a good example of why it pays to check the date of any review you rely on.

Support

Hostinger offers round-the-clock live chat and email support, plus an AI assistant called Hostinger Agent that can set up services, connect domains, configure DNS and hand you to a human when needed. The entry plan's card lists chatbot support, while higher tiers list priority 24/7 expert support. There is no telephone line. Independent reviewers are split on how good the human support is, which we cover below.

What could be better

  • No free plan. The trial is useful, but you cannot keep a basic site online for free as you can with some rivals.
  • Long-commitment pricing. The best rates need a multi-year prepayment, and renewals cost more.
  • Metered AI credits. Site and app generation draws on a fixed credit allowance, so heavy experimenters may run short.
  • Template switching. Changing templates after you start can mean redoing content.
  • Limited extensions. TechRadar notes there is no app marketplace, so you are largely limited to what Hostinger builds in.
  • No phone support. Everything runs through chat, email and the AI agent.

Who should choose something else?

If you need a large catalogue of third-party apps, advanced design freedom or a builder with a deep community of designers, a premium platform such as Wix or Squarespace will suit you better, at a higher price. If ecommerce is your whole business and you expect a large catalogue, a dedicated store platform is the more natural home. If you want full control over code, plugins and portability, WordPress (which Hostinger also hosts) is the more flexible route. And if you only need a simple page for a few months, a free plan elsewhere may be enough; Hostinger's structure only pays off when you commit for longer.

What other reviewers found

  • TechRadar judged the builder strong value, praising the drag-and-drop editor and built-in AI tools, but listed the lack of a free plan, limited integrations and lost content when switching templates as drawbacks.
  • Tom's Guide called Hostinger a top choice for novice and intermediate users, singling out the builder's SEO and marketing tools and a large knowledge base, while noting there is no phone support.
  • CNET liked the beginner-friendly management tools and reliable uptime, but found human support hard to reach for complex problems and site speed inconsistent without optimisation.
  • ZDNET found live chat agents answered quickly, but warned that headline monthly rates depend on prepaying for several years, which can confuse buyers.
  • CNET also described the crossed-out regular rate at checkout as "somewhat misleading", because it is not the price you renew at.

Where they agree: every outlet rates Hostinger as easy to use and excellent value at the introductory rate, and every outlet notes there is no phone support. Where they disagree: Tom's Guide and ZDNET were happy with the speed of chat replies, while CNET found reaching a capable human difficult once a problem went beyond the basics. For a buyer, that suggests Hostinger is a safe choice for a straightforward small site, but if you expect to need hands-on technical help often, budget for a provider with stronger human support. Everyone also flags the pricing structure, so read the renewal line before you pay.

Is Hostinger AI worth it?

For a beginner or small business that wants a good-looking site, email and a domain under one login, and that plans to keep the site running for years, Hostinger AI offers a lot for the money. The AI tools genuinely shorten the path from a blank page to a first draft, and the store features cover the basics without transaction fees. Go in with open eyes about renewal pricing, the credit-based AI allowance and the lack of phone support, and use the free trial to make sure the editor suits the way you work.

Bottom line

Hostinger AI earns its place near the top of our AI website builder ranking on value, ease of use and an unusually complete bundle of hosting, domain, email and AI helpers. It is not the most powerful builder, and its pricing rewards commitment more than flexibility, but for most first-time site owners it is a sensible, affordable place to start.

Frequently asked questions

Does Hostinger have a free website builder plan?

No. Hostinger's own FAQ says the website builder is not free, but it offers a 14-day free trial so you can try the drag-and-drop editor before paying. Paid plans are billed up front for the chosen term, and Hostinger's refund policy allows a refund on eligible products if you cancel within 30 days of purchase. Domain registrations follow separate, shorter refund rules.

What is the difference between Manual and Agentic mode?

Hostinger now runs one product called AI Builder with two modes. Manual mode is the classic drag-and-drop editor, where you start from a template or an AI draft and adjust every element yourself. Agentic mode lets you describe what you want in plain language and have the AI build a website or a simple web app, drawing on the AI credits included with your plan.

Can I sell products with Hostinger AI?

Yes. Hostinger says its builder includes ecommerce tools for physical and digital products, print-on-demand and services, with inventory, orders, shipping and tax settings in one dashboard. It states that more than 100 payment methods are supported without an extra platform fee. Ecommerce is presented as part of the higher plans, so check the plan card before you buy.

Is Hostinger safe to use?

Hostinger includes SSL certificates, supports two-factor authentication on the account according to TechRadar, and says it processes personal data under the EU's GDPR. As with any host, you are responsible for the data your own site collects from visitors, so you still need your own privacy notice. Turn on two-factor authentication and use a unique password for the account.

Does Hostinger offer phone support?

No. Support runs through 24/7 live chat, email and the Hostinger Agent AI assistant, which can hand you over to a human. Higher plans list priority support. Independent reviewers found chat replies quick, but CNET reported that reaching a human who could solve complex problems was harder, so factor that in if you expect to need detailed technical help.
