Our verdict
Choose monday.com when adoption is the risk. Its boards are the quickest to read for people who do not think in tasks and dependencies, automation recipes cover the routine chasing without anyone learning a rules engine, and the template library shortens the setup. Watch the commercials rather than the features: paid plans carry per-seat minimums, and the cost climbs as the team grows.
Choose ClickUp when consolidation is the goal. Docs living beside the tasks they describe, campaign work tracked in the same place as delivery, and Brain reaching across all of it is genuinely fewer tools to pay for and switch between. Be honest about the cost of that breadth: it is the more overwhelming of the two on first contact, and it wants someone to shape it before the team arrives.
If you cannot decide, ask who will own the setup. With a clear owner, ClickUp repays the work. Without one, monday.com is the safer bet.
