C3

Note

Computer keyboard: the bottom row (Z to M, with S, D, G, H and J as the black keys) plays the lower octave, and the top row (Q to P, with the numbers as the black keys) plays the one above. Every sound is synthesised by your browser, with no samples. On phones, swipe sideways above the keys to reach the rest of the keyboard.

How to use it

  1. Click or tap a key, or use the letters shown on the keys from your computer keyboard. You can play several keys at once.
  2. Choose Piano, Electric piano or Organ, and move the octave up or down to reach higher or lower notes.
  3. Tick Sustain to let notes ring after you let go, like a sustain pedal. Press Stop all notes to silence everything.

Questions

Can I play it with a MIDI keyboard?

Yes, in Chrome, Edge or Opera on a computer. Connect the keyboard by USB, press Connect MIDI keyboard and allow MIDI access when your browser asks. Key velocity sets the loudness and a sustain pedal works. Next time the page connects by itself, and the MIDI data stays in your browser.

Can I play chords?

Yes. Press several keys on the computer keyboard at once, or touch several keys on a touch screen. Most computer keyboards register at least three keys together; some cheaper ones miss certain combinations.

Why is there a short delay?

Every device adds a little delay between a key press and the sound. Wired headphones or speakers are fastest; Bluetooth headphones can add a noticeable lag.

Which note is middle C?

Middle C is C4, the C near the middle of a full piano keyboard. The display above the keys names every note you play, with its octave number.
