Adobe says Photoshop runs up to 2x faster on NVIDIA RTX Spark PCs

Adobe and NVIDIA announced RTX Spark optimizations for Photoshop and Premiere. Here is what the speed claim covers and what product photo sellers should check first.

On October 15, Adobe and NVIDIA announced that Photoshop, Premiere and Substance 3D have been optimized for NVIDIA's new RTX Spark chip. NVIDIA's release says the apps deliver "up to 2x faster" AI processing, editing, color and effects on that hardware. For sellers who edit product photos, the useful question is what that claim covers and what it does not.

What was announced

According to the NVIDIA newsroom release, Adobe is bringing the RTX Spark superchip, which the release says was launching on October 16, to its "agentic creative applications": Photoshop, Premiere and Substance 3D. The companies say the apps are RTX-accelerated and tuned for the chip's unified memory and AI compute.

The release gives some specifics. Adobe rearchitected Photoshop around GPU-accelerated compositing, aimed at tasks such as the Remove Tool and on-canvas effects like Gaussian Blur and Light Leaks. In Premiere, playback, rendering, effects, color and AI tools are accelerated, including Enhance Speech and Object Mask. Substance 3D Painter gets faster texturing on its heaviest steps.

The announcement also covers two items aimed at larger organizations. Adobe says it is speeding up cloud media processing and search in Frame.io, and it has optimized Brand Concierge on NVIDIA Nemotron open models, with that version due for enterprise customers later this year. Unite.AI's report of the announcement repeats these points and notes that the work builds on a March partnership between the two companies.

What RTX Spark is

NVIDIA introduced RTX Spark on May 31 at GTC Taipei. In that announcement, the company describes a superchip that pairs a Blackwell RTX GPU with a 20-core Grace CPU, with up to 1 petaflop of AI performance and up to 128GB of unified memory. The same release says Adobe was already rearchitecting Photoshop and Premiere for the chip to deliver 2x faster AI and graphics performance.

On availability, NVIDIA says RTX Spark laptops and compact desktops arrive this fall from ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface and MSI, with Acer and GIGABYTE models to follow. The news summaries of the two releases we reviewed do not state prices for those machines, so any cost comparison has to wait for the makers' own listings.

Why it matters if you sell products online

Photoshop and Premiere are often part of a product photo and video workflow, even when the first draft comes from a dedicated AI product photography tool. Cleaning up a background, removing a stray object or adding a shadow in Photoshop is the sort of job the announcement talks about. If you do that work every day, faster tools could save time.

It is worth keeping the claim in proportion, though.

  • It is a ceiling, not a promise. The wording is "up to 2x faster". The releases we read do not publish the test setup, the comparison machine or the files used, so you cannot tell from them what a typical product catalogue edit would gain.
  • It applies to specific hardware. The speed-up is described for apps running on RTX Spark. If your computer does not have that chip, the announcement does not promise you anything.
  • It covers desktop apps. The releases do not say that web-based or phone-based AI photo tools gain anything from this work. Those tools run wherever their makers host them.
  • Firefly is not in the release. The announcement names Photoshop, Premiere, Substance 3D, Frame.io and Brand Concierge. It does not describe changes to Adobe Firefly image generation, so do not assume faster generations.

What to do

If you are shopping for a new computer mainly to edit product images, do not buy on this claim alone. Wait until the machines are listed with prices and until there are independent timings from reputable reviewers on tasks like yours: batch background removal, cutouts, retouching a stack of images. Compare against the computer you already own, because for many small shops the slow step is the shooting and the uploading, not the edit.

If you already pay for Photoshop and your current machine copes, the announcement is a reason to watch, not to upgrade. If you use a browser or phone tool for product shots, nothing here requires a change. Check the vendor's own system requirements before assuming any feature will run on older hardware.

Also keep an eye on the next event. Creative Bloq reports that Adobe Max 2026 takes place in Miami Beach from 10 to 12 November, and Adobe and NVIDIA say they will show more of the work there with hardware partners. Further product and pricing news often lands around such events, so a purchase that can wait a few weeks may be better informed.

What we could not confirm

We could not find independent benchmark results for the RTX Spark versions of these apps, and the news summaries we read name no prices for the PCs. We have left out any figure the sources do not give. The 2x, 5x and 80% numbers quoted by the companies are their own early results on selected workloads, as the release itself describes them.
