HubSpot has rebuilt the AI assistant at the centre of its customer relationship management (CRM) platform and says its CRM can now keep itself up to date. The company announced its Fall '26 Spotlight release on 16 September at its Unbound conference in Boston, calling it its "most foundational product release."
HubSpot offers a free CRM tier as well as paid plans, so the changes are worth understanding even if you are not paying for it yet.
What HubSpot announced
HubSpot's announcement lists a long set of changes. The ones most relevant to a small sales or marketing team are:
- A rebuilt Breeze Assistant. HubSpot says the assistant no longer just answers questions but takes action: "just describe what you're trying to do, and it handles the rest." It assigns work to HubSpot's AI agents and produces proposals, reports and campaign plans based on what is stored in the CRM.
- A self-updating Smart CRM. Calls, emails and meetings are captured and synced automatically. HubSpot calls this "completely touchless," aimed at the familiar problem of sales staff not logging their activity.
- Context Home. A screen that scores how complete the CRM's information is and shows the gaps.
- Marketing Studio. A new workspace for campaigns and content, which diginomica reports is in public beta.
- Sales tools. A mobile notetaker for calls and in-person meetings, a revamped deal progression feature that drafts follow-ups from transcripts for one-click approval, and an updated Prospecting Agent that HubSpot says watches more than 40 buying signals and drafts outreach.
- Advertising integrations. HubSpot says it is the first CRM to integrate with ChatGPT Ads (in public beta, according to HubSpot), and it added a Microsoft Advertising app covering placements such as Bing, Copilot and Outlook.
HubSpot ties all of this to what it calls Growth Context: the business, customer and team data stored in its platform that the AI features draw on.
The claims, and what they are based on
HubSpot's announcement quotes large gains: 3.6 times more marketing qualified leads, 3.2 times more deals won and more than twice as many support tickets closed. The footnote matters. Those figures compare Professional and Enterprise customers "using AI with high quality context" with Professional and Enterprise customers not using AI. That is HubSpot's own data, and businesses that invest in keeping their CRM clean and adopting new tools may differ from those that do not in many other ways. The numbers show a correlation among HubSpot customers, not what a given business should expect.
diginomica's analysis of the event raised further caveats: that Growth Context still depends on the information being kept current, that Marketing Studio has a learning curve, and that Breeze Assistant needs direction from the user rather than working on its own.
