☝️ Index Pointing Up is an emoji in the People & Body group, hand single finger subgroup, first released in Emoji 0.6 (2010). Emoji 0.6 is the label Unicode gives to characters that became emoji with Unicode 6.0 in 2010, before emoji had version numbers of their own.
CLDR, the Unicode project that supplies emoji names in many languages, gives it the English keywords finger, hand, index, point, pointing, this and up; that is what emoji keyboards match when you search.
It is the character ☝ (U+261D WHITE UP POINTING INDEX) followed by the variation selector U+FE0F, which asks for the colourful emoji style. Without the selector, many systems show a plain text symbol instead.
