Lorem Ipsum Generator
Placeholder paragraphs, sentences or words.
Free. Runs in your browser: nothing you enter or open is uploaded.
The words come from the traditional lorem ipsum vocabulary, which is scrambled Latin from a passage by Cicero. The text is placeholder only and means nothing, which is the point: readers look at the layout, not the words.
How to use it
- Choose how many paragraphs, sentences or words you need.
- Keep or untick the classic opening line, and tick the HTML option if you are pasting into code.
- Press Copy, or Generate new text for a different mix.
Questions
What is lorem ipsum?
Dummy text that has filled printing and web layouts since the 1500s. It comes from a Latin text by Cicero with words cut and changed, so it looks like real language without distracting anyone with meaning.
Why use placeholder text instead of real copy?
It lets designers judge spacing, line length and typography before the words are written, and stops reviewers from editing the copy when they should be judging the design.
Can I use it in a commercial project?
Yes. Lorem ipsum is not owned by anyone and the generated text is free to use anywhere. Remember to replace it before the page goes live.
