When to use it

A check mark (U+2713) for done lists and feature tables. It is an HTML5 name, so it works in every current browser but not in HTML 4 validators. Tables of yes and no marks should also say 'Yes' for screen readers, for example in visually hidden text.

The name comes from the HTML5 list (much of it shared with MathML), so it works in every current browser but not in XML or XHTML served as XML, where the numeric reference is the safe choice.
