URL Parser

Split a URL into its parts and query parameters.

Free. Runs in your browser: nothing you enter or open is uploaded.

Query parameters

This URL has no query parameters.

Rebuilt URL

The URL is read with your browser's own URL parser, the same one that decides where a link goes. Parameter values are shown decoded; edit them as plain text and they are encoded again in the rebuilt URL.

How to use it

  1. Paste a full URL. A missing https:// is added for you.
  2. Read each part: protocol, host, port, path, query parameters and the fragment after #.
  3. Edit, add or remove parameters in the table and copy the rebuilt URL.

Questions

What are the parts of a URL?

The protocol (https), an optional user name, the host name, an optional port, the path to the page, the query string after ? with key=value parameters, and the fragment after # that points to a spot on the page.

Why does the port say default?

When no port is written, https uses 443 and http uses 80. The browser leaves the default out of the URL.

Is the fragment sent to the server?

No. Everything after # stays in the browser. Sites use it to jump to a heading or to keep state in single page apps.

Can I remove tracking parameters here?

Yes, press Remove next to each one. The Link Cleaner tool does it automatically for hundreds of known tracking codes.
