When to use it
( writes U+0028 (Left Parenthesis), an opening bracket from the Unicode Basic Latin block, encoded since Unicode 1.1. Characters from the keyboard only need an entity where they would otherwise be read as markup.
The name comes from the HTML5 list (much of it shared with MathML), so it works in every current browser but not in XML or XHTML served as XML, where the numeric reference is the safe choice.
