Unit Price Comparison

Which pack size is really cheaper, per unit.

Free tools that run in your browser. Nothing you type, open or create is uploaded to NerdBible or anyone else.

Fluid ounces and gallons come in US and UK (imperial) sizes, which differ: a US gallon is 3.785 litres and a UK gallon 4.546 litres. Pick the one printed on the pack. Weight and volume cannot be compared with each other, since that would need the density of the product.

    How to use it

    1. Enter the price and the amount in each pack, with its unit, for up to six items.
    2. Choose the unit to compare by, such as per kilogram or per 100 ml.
    3. The cheapest item per unit is marked, and every other item shows how much more it costs per unit, in percent.

    Questions

Is the bigger pack always cheaper?

No. Supermarkets often price a large pack higher per unit than a smaller one, or a special offer makes the small pack cheaper. Comparing the unit price is the only way to be sure.

Can I compare a pack in ounces with one in grams?

Yes. Choose the right unit for each item and the tool converts everything before comparing. Weights compare with weights, volumes with volumes, and counted items with counted items.

How do I compare a multipack?

Enter the total amount: for 4 cans of 330 ml, enter 1320 ml, or 4 items if you are comparing per can.
