Adding the signature to your email app

  • Gmail: press Copy signature. In Gmail, open Settings (the gear), See all settings, then the General tab. Under Signature press Create new, name it, paste into the box and press Save Changes at the bottom.
  • Outlook on the web and new Outlook: press Copy signature. Open Settings, Account, Signatures, add a new signature, paste and save. Choose it as the default for new messages and replies.
  • Outlook for Windows (classic): press Copy signature, then File, Options, Mail, Signatures. Press New, name it, paste into the edit box and press OK.
  • Apple Mail (Mac): press Copy signature. Open Mail, Settings, Signatures, choose the account and press +. Untick Always match my default message font, then paste over the sample text.
  • iPhone and iPad Mail: signatures there are plain text only. Paste the copied signature in Settings, Mail, Signature; formatting may be partly lost.

The signature is built from tables and inline styles, the layout email apps handle most reliably. Social profiles are text links, not icons, so they show even when an email app blocks images. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

How to use it

  1. Fill in your details. Leave a field empty to leave it out.
  2. Optionally add a logo URL, your social profile links, an accent colour and a template.
  3. Press Copy signature and paste it into your email app's signature settings (instructions below the tool).
  4. For an app that wants HTML code, use the HTML source tab or Copy HTML instead.

Questions

Why is my logo not showing?

The logo has to be an image that is already on the internet, at an address starting with https://. Some email apps also block images until the reader allows them, so the signature is designed to read well without the logo.

Can I use an image from my computer?

Not with a pasted signature. Upload the logo to your website or another host first and use its address. Gmail and Outlook also let you insert an image while editing the signature, after pasting.

Why are social profiles text links instead of icons?

Icons are images, and many email apps hide images by default, which leaves empty boxes. Text links always show and are read correctly by screen readers.

Is anything I enter saved or sent?

No. The signature is built in your browser and nothing is stored, so fill in the form again if you reload the page.
