Image & SVG Cropper
Crop a photo to any size or aspect ratio, or trim and crop an SVG losslessly.
Free tools that run in your browser. Nothing you type, open or create is uploaded to NerdBible or anyone else.
How to use it
- Choose or drop an image or an SVG file.
- Drag on the picture to draw the crop area, drag inside it to move it, or drag a corner to resize. Pick an aspect ratio to lock the shape, or type exact pixels.
- For an SVG, press Trim empty space to cut it tight to the artwork, and add padding if you want breathing room.
- Download the result: a photo as PNG, JPG or WebP, an SVG as a new SVG file or as code to copy.
Questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. The image is opened and cropped by your browser on your device, and the download is created there too.
Will cropping reduce quality?
Cropping keeps the original pixels. Saving as PNG is lossless; JPG and WebP are smaller and use the quality you choose.
Does cropping an SVG lose quality?
No. For an SVG the tool changes only the viewBox, the window onto the drawing. Every path stays exactly as it was, so the result is as sharp as the original at any size. Trimming fits the view box to the visible artwork, which removes the empty artboard design tools often export.
What size is best for social media?
Square 1:1 for profile pictures, 4:5 for portrait feed posts, 9:16 for stories and 16:9 for video thumbnails.
About this tool
About the image and SVG cropper
This cropper handles two kinds of file. Ordinary photos and screenshots are cut to the area you choose. SVG files are cropped without touching the drawing at all.
Cropping a photo
- Drag on the picture to draw the crop area, drag inside it to move it, or pull a corner to resize it.
- Lock an aspect ratio such as 1:1, 4:5, 16:9 or 9:16, or type exact pixel sizes.
- Save as PNG for a lossless result, or JPG or WebP for a smaller file at the quality you choose.
Cropping keeps the original pixels inside the area, so the result is as sharp as the source.
Cropping an SVG
Design tools often export the whole artboard, leaving empty space around an icon or logo. Press Trim empty space to fit the view tightly to the visible artwork, or drag to choose an area yourself, and add padding if you want room around it. Only the viewBox, the window onto the drawing, changes: every path stays exactly as it was, so the result stays perfectly sharp at any size.
Common sizes
Square 1:1 suits profile pictures, 4:5 portrait feed posts, 9:16 stories and reels, and 16:9 video thumbnails.
Images are opened, cropped and saved on your device and never uploaded.
