SVG Optimizer

Strip editor clutter from SVG files.

Free. Runs in your browser: nothing you enter or open is uploaded.

Clean up
Optimised SVG

The optimiser runs in your browser and works on the SVG code itself, so nothing is uploaded. It is deliberately careful: an attribute is only treated as a default when no parent element sets it differently, and text inside text elements is left exactly as it was. Compare the two previews before you use the result; rounding to 0 or 1 decimal places can visibly change small icons.

How to use it

  1. Open, drop or paste an SVG file.
  2. Choose what to remove and how many decimal places to keep. The size saving and the before and after previews update straight away.
  3. Check the previews match, then download the optimised file or copy the code.

Questions

How much smaller will my SVG get?

Files saved from Illustrator, Inkscape, Sketch or Figma often shrink by 30 to 70 percent, mostly from editor metadata and long decimal numbers. A hand written or already optimised file may only lose a few percent.

Which precision should I choose?

Three decimal places is safe for almost everything. Icons drawn on a 24 by 24 grid usually look identical at two or even one. Large illustrations with a big viewBox can often go to zero.

Why keep the title and description?

Screen readers read them aloud when the SVG is used inline, so they make an image accessible. Remove them only for purely decorative graphics.

Is this the same as SVGO?

It does the safe core of what SVGO does: removing clutter, rounding numbers and compacting paths. SVGO can also merge paths and rewrite shapes, which saves more but occasionally changes how a file looks.
