Image Compressor
Make JPG, PNG and WebP files smaller.
Free. Runs in your browser: nothing you enter or open is uploaded.
Choose one or more images to start. Nothing is uploaded.
How to use it
- Choose or drop one or more images.
- Pick the format and quality. 70 to 80 is a good balance for photos; set a max width to shrink large photos as well, they are never enlarged.
- Check the saving for each file and download them one by one or all together.
Questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every image is compressed by your browser on your device. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
Why did my PNG barely shrink?
PNG is lossless, so the quality slider cannot make it smaller. For photos, save as WebP or JPG instead: the file is usually many times smaller and looks the same.
What does the max width do?
Photos from phones are often 4000 pixels wide or more, far bigger than a web page shows. A max width of 1600 or 2000 pixels cuts the file size sharply. Smaller images are left at their size.
Is the location and camera data kept?
No. The compressed copy is redrawn from the pixels, so EXIF data such as GPS position and camera model is not carried over.
