CSV

Nested objects are flattened into dot keys (address.zip) and arrays into numbered keys (tags.0, tags.1), and the reverse when converting back. Columns appear in the order they are first seen. CSV follows RFC 4180: fields with the delimiter, a quote or a line break are wrapped in double quotes.

How to use it

  1. Choose JSON to CSV or CSV to JSON.
  2. Paste your data and pick the delimiter. The result and a table preview update as you type.
  3. Copy the result or download it as a .csv or .json file.

Questions

Why does Excel put everything in one column?

Excel in many European languages expects semicolons, because the comma is the decimal separator there. Choose Semicolon as the delimiter, or import the file with Data, From Text.

How are nested objects and arrays handled?

They are flattened into columns with dot keys, such as address.city and tags.0. Converting the CSV back with dot keys turned on rebuilds the nesting.

What if rows have different keys?

Every key found in any row becomes a column, and rows without that key get an empty cell.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Both directions run in your browser. Nothing is sent, which matters for customer lists and exports.
