Dice Roller: d4 to d100

Pick a die, set how many to roll and any modifier, then press Roll. Every die is shown along with the total.

Free tools that run in your browser. Nothing you type, open or create is uploaded to NerdBible or anyone else.

Every result comes from your browser's cryptographic random number generator, with rejection sampling so no number is even slightly more likely than another. Nothing is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Pick a tab: Number, Dice, Coin, Letter, Teams or Secret Santa.
  2. Set the range, the dice and modifier, the number of coins, the letters, or the list of names.
  3. Press the button. Press it again for a fresh result; dice and coins keep a running record.
  4. For Secret Santa, add any pairs who should not draw each other, press Draw names, then pass the device round so each person reveals only their own match.

Questions

Is this dice roller really random?

Yes. It uses the cryptographic generator built into your browser, with rejection sampling so no face is favoured. Over many rolls each face comes up equally often.

How do I roll with advantage?

Pick d20, set the number of dice to 2 and roll. Both dice are shown; keep the higher one for advantage or the lower one for disadvantage.

Can I roll different dice together, like 1d8 plus 2d6?

Roll them one after the other: each roll stays in the history, so you can add them up. One roll uses one kind of die.

About this tool

A fair roll every time

Each die is rolled with your browser's cryptographic random number generator, using rejection sampling so every face is exactly as likely as any other. Physical dice can be slightly uneven; these cannot.

  • The common tabletop set. d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and the d100 used for percentile rolls.
  • Several dice at once. Roll up to 20 of the same die, such as 3d6 or 8d6 for a fireball, and see each result next to the total.
  • Modifiers. Add or subtract a number, from minus 100 to plus 100, the way a character sheet bonus works.
  • History. Earlier rolls are listed under the dice, so nobody has to remember the last result.

For d20 games

Choose d20 and one die for an attack roll or a check. For advantage or disadvantage, roll two d20 and keep the higher or the lower: both dice are shown, so you can read them straight off. The ability score button rolls 4d6 six times and drops the lowest die each time, the usual way to roll character stats.

Nothing is stored or sent; close the page and the history is gone.
