Secret Santa Generator
Enter everyone taking part, add any pairs who should not draw each other, then pass the device round so each person reveals only their own match.
Free tools that run in your browser. Nothing you type, open or create is uploaded to NerdBible or anyone else.
Hand the device to each person in turn. They press their own name, read it, then press Hide before passing it on. Only one match is ever on screen.
Every result comes from your browser's cryptographic random number generator, with rejection sampling so no number is even slightly more likely than another. Nothing is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Pick a tab: Number, Dice, Coin, Letter, Teams or Secret Santa.
- Set the range, the dice and modifier, the number of coins, the letters, or the list of names.
- Press the button. Press it again for a fresh result; dice and coins keep a running record.
- For Secret Santa, add any pairs who should not draw each other, press Draw names, then pass the device round so each person reveals only their own match.
Questions
Can I keep couples from drawing each other?
Yes. Add each pair on its own line, such as Alex, Sam. Neither person will draw the other.
Does the organiser see who has who?
No. There is no button that lists every match. Each person reveals only their own, then hides it before the next person looks.
What if someone forgets their match?
They can press their name again while the page is still open. Once it is closed or reloaded, the draw is gone, so keep it open until everyone has looked.
About this tool
A private draw without email addresses
Most Secret Santa sites ask for everyone's email address. This draw happens entirely on one phone or computer, and nobody, including the organiser, sees the full list.
- Nobody draws themselves. Every person is matched with someone else, and every person receives exactly one gift.
- Exclusions. List pairs who should not draw each other, such as partners or housemates, one pair per line. The rule works in both directions.
- One match on screen at a time. Each person presses their own name, reads who they are buying for, and presses Hide before passing the device on.
- Impossible rules are flagged. If the exclusions leave no valid draw, the tool says so instead of breaking a rule.
Tips for the organiser
Agree a spending limit and a date before the draw, and write the names exactly as people will recognise them. Do the reveal in one sitting: the draw lives only on this page, and closing or reloading it starts a fresh one.
