WebP to JPG Converter

Choose WebP files and each one is saved as a JPG on your device at the quality you set.

Free tools that run in your browser. Nothing you type, open or create is uploaded to NerdBible or anyone else.

Choose one or more images to start. Nothing is uploaded.

Same format compresses each image and keeps its type. Choose JPG, PNG or WebP to convert every image to that format instead. Up to 50 images at a time.

    How to use it

    1. Choose or drop one or more images.
    2. Keep Same format to make the files smaller, or choose JPG, PNG or WebP to convert them.
    3. Set the quality (70 to 80 suits photos) and, if you like, a max width: large photos shrink, smaller ones are never enlarged. For JPG, pick the colour that fills transparent areas; for SVG files, the width of the picture.
    4. Check the result for each file and download them one by one or all together.

    Questions

Will WebP to JPG lose quality?

A little, because JPG compresses the picture again. At a quality of 80 or more the difference is very hard to see. Choose PNG instead if you need an exact copy.

What happens to transparent parts of the WebP?

They are filled with the background colour you choose, white by default, because JPG cannot store transparency.

Is the JPG bigger than the WebP?

Often slightly, since WebP is the more efficient format. Lower the quality a touch or set a maximum width if the size matters.

    About this tool

When WebP to JPG makes sense

WebP is common on the web, but plenty of upload forms, printing services and older programs still expect a JPG. Converting a WebP photo to JPG gives you a file that works everywhere and stays small.

    • Both formats are usually lossy. The WebP was compressed once and the JPG compresses again, so use a quality of 80 or more to keep the second step from showing.
    • Transparency is filled in. JPG has no transparent pixels; clear areas take the background colour you pick, white by default. Use WebP to PNG for logos and cut-outs that must stay transparent.
    • The JPG may be a little larger than the WebP at the same visual quality, because WebP compresses more efficiently.
    • Animated WebP becomes a still JPG of the first frame.

    Good to know

The JPG is drawn from the pixels, so no metadata from the WebP is copied. A maximum width can shrink large images in the same step, and up to 50 files can be converted at once.
